SPL6C.3 is a complete component kit, in 6.5/165mm size, but with a difference. The difference is that we have engineered these speakers to offer premium performance at a very tiny price. Using featherweight fibre reinforced paper cones hooked to enormous 110mm (!) high density ceramic magnets via a beefy 37mm voice coil these offer absolutely stunning detail and sonic accuracy. We have also specified large 25mm high end silk dome tweeters to complete the system. The surround is also big news, with a PA/Pro Audio style double style fabric design that doesn't colour the sound and assists in keeping the cone exactly central to the VC. We have, without shame, saved money on simple pressed baskets and a basic crossover shrouded in just heat shrink. We also saved money by not supplying you with any cable or grilles for the mids. The simple crossover does surprisingly well with the natural impedence rise of the mids rolling them off nicely - a lovely open, detailled sound with excellent cohesion between the system. On test, used active with an 80Hz high pass on the mids, 4500Hz low pass crossover at 12db/octave and then 4500Hz high pass on the tweeters at 18db/octave we were able to achieve sound quality that rivals the best we have ever heard, powered off a V2 DB2.2 with a V2 SPL15.2 for lows, in a sealed enclosure run from a DB1.3 - obviously this was an SQ setup but truly the sound was epic from that point of view. Also worthy of note is the slim mounting depth (for the performance) of just 53mm (although given that the woofer is vented out the back we would advise at least 10mm of additional clearance if possible.
